Dave Burrells is an operator, founder and product leader with more than two decades of experience across financial services, software, AI, fintech and crypto, including more than a decade at JPMorgan. His home ground is the COO role: he was COO of YOP Finance, a DeFi yield platform, and has also served as CEO of Bento, a crypto wallet company. He is now Chief Commercial Officer at Alludium, where he helps commercialise AI-native software built around real professional workflows, and he writes the Agentic Economy Series on how autonomous software will come to transact.
Dave Burrells began his career in finance in 1999 and joined JPMorgan in 2004 as a fund accountant. Over twelve years he moved through business analysis and software development into project and product management, and he returned in 2018–19 as Product Manager & Innovation Lead. He encountered blockchain in 2013 while exploring trading automation and has been interested in programmable, digitally native financial infrastructure ever since.
During that second stint he built an AI meeting minute-taker to automate stenography and support people with auditory disabilities; the technology is the subject of a patent. He has since worked in startups as COO, CEO, founder and board adviser across SaaS, AI, fintech and crypto, including as COO of YOP Finance and CEO of Bento, a crypto wallet company.
Operations is where he is most at home, turning ambitious technology into something that runs reliably. Today he is Chief Commercial Officer at Alludium and writes about the agentic economy: what happens as AI moves from answering questions to acting, and eventually to transacting on its own behalf.
