Who is responsible

David Burrells is the controller of personal data collected through this site. Contact: me@davidburrells.co.uk.

What this site collects

• Contact form. Your name, email address and message, used only to reply to you.
• Updates sign-up. Your email address, used only to send you new papers and posts.
• Hosting logs. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log technical data such as IP address and browser type to deliver and secure the service.
• Analytics (only if you accept). Google Analytics records which pages you view, your approximate location and your device and browser, using cookies. It is used to understand which writing is read, not for advertising. If you decline, nothing is loaded. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.

Apart from analytics cookies, which are set only if you accept, this site sets no cookies and uses no advertising trackers. Fonts are hosted on this site, not by a third party.

Legal basis

Consent, which you give by ticking the box on a form or by accepting analytics. You can withdraw it at any time.

Who processes your data

Form submissions are received by Formspree (formspree.io), which passes them to my email. GitHub hosts the site. Links to Medium, X and LinkedIn take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies. Google processes analytics data for me if you accept, and may transfer it outside the UK under its standard safeguards.

How long I keep it

Messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Email addresses on the updates list are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept for the period set in my Google Analytics account, no longer than 14 months.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, or to unsubscribe, by emailing me@davidburrells.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
